The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has formed a new unit to focus on crimes and offenders that lower the quality of life within our community. This new unit is called the Special Response Team.
The Special Response Team (SRT) is part of the Special Operations Section within the Support Operations Division of the Sheriff’s Department. The unit’s mission is to actively target areas and offenders within Pima County in order to promote quality of life throughout the community; in conjunction with proactive approaches to crime interdiction and patrol district support.
SRT is comprised of seven deputies and a sergeant. Unit members perform their duties in full uniform in marked patrol vehicles. This allows the Unit to accomplish their mission through deterring crime as well as being secondary resource for responding to calls for service. Further implementation of the unit will include crime analysis for mission oriented policing projects and proactive approaches to patrolling, such as bike patrol and task force involvement.
