Corrections Bureau
Pima County Adult Detention Center

The Department operates a "New Generation" Adult Detention Center. This podular facility provides detention services for law enforcement agencies in the metropolitan Tucson area and throughout Pima County. The facility incorporates contemporary concepts in jail design and the use of a direct supervision mode of inmate management. In a direct supervision jail, corrections staff control behavior of the jail population through a pro-active concept. Unlike more traditional re-active containment - utilizing bars, security glass, and other barriers - officers are assigned to work inside each pod in physical proximity to the inmates. It is the philosophy of the Pima County Sheriff's Department to maintain a detention facility that is not only humane and pro-active in its approach toward inmates, but also be an employer that has pride in our most important resource, our employees.

Release and Exchange

Inmates must maintain one full set of clothing with Inmate Property; other stored personal property may be released to an outside party, someone not in the custody of the Pima County Adult Detention Center.

All property releases and clothing exchanges are conducted at the Property Release/Exchange window located in the property area of the Main Jail Complex. Call 351-8112 for information.

One complete set of clothing must remain in property storage (trousers and shirt, or dress, or skirt and blouse, and shoes).

An inmate must initiate the release or exchange of clothing by submitting an Inmate Property Transaction form. Only the individual named on the form will be allowed to pick up or exchange the property. Hours for exchanges are 7:00am to 10:00pm daily.

Property belonging to an inmate transferred to the Department of Corrections may be picked up at the front desk of the Minimum Security Facility. Property may be picked-up beginning the first Monday following the inmate's transfer to DOC on the following:
