Job Descriptions & Salary
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • At least 18 years of age (at time of hire)
  • Be of excellent character
  • U.S. Citizen or Alien Work Permit
  • Type 35 words-per-minute
  • Satisfactory completion of a background investigation
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays

Hiring Process
  • A standardized testing process to evaluate multi-tasking and keyboarding skills, and, if necessary, a typing test (35 words-per-minute).
  • Oral Board Interview
  • Polygraph
  • Background Evaluation

Training

SHERIFF'S 9-1-1 CALL TAKER:
  • Five-week (5) classroom training
  • Five-week (5) on-the-job training
    (Day Shift)
  • Six-week (6) on-the-job training (Swing Shift)
  • Twelve-month (12) probationary period, which begins after the above training is completed

SHERIFF'S 9-1-1- DISPATCHER :

  • Five-week (5) classroom training
  • Five-week (5) on-the-job training
    (Day Shift - Phone)
  • Six-week (6) on-the-job training (Swing Shift - Phone)
  • Two-week (2) radio training (classroom)
  • Three-week (3) on-the-job training
    (Midnight Shift - Dispatch)
  • Four-week (4) on-the-job training
    (Day Shift - Dispatch)
  • Six-week (6) on-the-job training
    (Swing Shift - Dispatch)
  • Twelve-month (12) probationary period, which begins after the above training is completed
