Hiring Process

A standardized testing process to evaluate multi-tasking and keyboarding skills, and, if necessary, a typing test (35 words-per-minute).

Training

SHERIFF'S 9-1-1 CALL TAKER:

Five-week (5) classroom training
Five-week (5) on-the-job training
(Day Shift)
Six-week (6) on-the-job training (Swing Shift)
Twelve-month (12) probationary period, which begins after the above training is completed

SHERIFF'S 9-1-1- DISPATCHER :

Five-week (5) classroom training
Five-week (5) on-the-job training
(Day Shift - Phone)
Six-week (6) on-the-job training (Swing Shift - Phone)
Two-week (2) radio training (classroom)
Three-week (3) on-the-job training
(Midnight Shift - Dispatch)
Four-week (4) on-the-job training
(Day Shift - Dispatch)
Six-week (6) on-the-job training
(Swing Shift - Dispatch)
Twelve-month (12) probationary period, which begins after the above training is completed
